Andersonville Playground, was among 77 playgrounds across the city chosen to be refurbished or rebuilt in 2015. Mayor Rahm Emanuel initially launched the Chicago Plays! program in 2012. Under the program, the Chicago Park District will rebuild or refurbish more than 300 playgrounds within five years, according to a park district official.
“The equipment was aging and old and not maintained in the way people would like to see,” said Michael Fick, president of the West Andersonville Neighbors Together group.
