The natural playground at Mills Park in Calgary, Alberta packs high play value into a modest area that caters to children of all ages and abilities. The Albertan ranch-themed playground includes a water tower as the defining feature of the space. The extensive use of natural logs reiterates the farming aesthetic. A low log climber is reminiscent of clearing land for agricultural purposes. The adjacent child care area includes a log palisade wall that allows for a small slide accessible by log steppers. The pop of brilliant red colour on the water tower and the palisade wall is a welcome introduction to the space and compliments the nearby condo building.
