Profile
Creekside Park is prominently located adjacent to the geodesic dome of BC’s Science World on the eastern shore of False Creek in downtown Vancouver. The playground on the former Expo 86 site was master planned by Durante Kreuke who contracted with Earthscape to design and build the playground’s central feature, the multi-level tapered tower, as well as the large play hut in the sand and water play area. The playground is the largest and most accessible in the City of Vancouver and has become the most popular downtown playground for Vancouver families and children, as well as tourists.
The custom multi-level tower can be accessed via net climbers, angled log timbers, or notched logs giving choice and variety to children. Once inside the tower, children can escape down the speedy stainless steel tube slide. Next to the ocean, toddlers or older children can create and socialize in a play hut that could be imagined as a rustic cabin or perhaps a gourmet kitchen. Ample seating is provided for caregivers next to the sand and water play zone as they observe the natural play inclinations of children who will be endlessly entertained at this picturesque playscape.
