About the Park
A small park offering refuge from the busy roads nearby, Cedar Cottage’s rolling lawns are pleasant to walk through. The playground is sheltered by pine trees, with nearby seating to relax with a newspaper or book.
History
This site is named after the district of Cedar Cottage. The district was named after British native Arthur Wilson who acquired thirty to forty acres of land in the east side of Vancouver. Here he cultivated a nursery and marketgarden and built a home made of cedar – hence the moniker of the area as Cedar Cottage.
The site also had a ravine which was used as an early landfill or dump. The Park Board later transformed the site by filling in the ravine and creating a small neighbourhood park in the mid 1970s.
