Profile
This large adventure playground and park is a must-see for everyone.
The Children’s Garden incorporates a strong koowhai theme through its equipment and includes a koowhai seed fountain, koowhai flower slide, and koowhai leaf-shaped viewing platform over the Waikato River.
Other features include a water feature, interactive native bird sculptures, and a small amphitheatre and playhouse.
The park was gifted to the city by George Parr who had a vision of children recovering from illness coming to the park to play.
There was an outdoor theatre at the park in the 1950s and 1960s for pantomimes. A paddling pool was constructed with the help of the Rotary Club.
Today the park is a wonderful place to have a picnic or take the family for a walk. It is closely linked to the Waikato River and Memorial Park.
