Profile
Nestled in the heart of Anchorage, Alaska, Campbell Park is a scenic haven named after the historical Campbell Creek. This creek, which meanders through the park, carries the legacy of Sir Joseph Campbell, an explorer who charted the Alaskan wilderness from 1792 to 1785. The park serves as a popular starting point for aquatic adventures, allowing visitors to set sail on Campbell Creek and navigate their way to the serene Taku Lake Park.
A highlight of the park is the 7.5-mile Campbell Creek Trail, which offers a year-round outdoor experience. During the winter months, the trail is illuminated, providing a picturesque route for skiing enthusiasts. Come summer, the trail transforms into a vibrant spot for observing the natural wonder of salmon spawning. To ensure safety and accessibility, cyclists, pedestrians, and joggers are directed to use the traffic light at Lake Otis Parkway for crossing. Beyond Lake Otis, the trail hugs the contours of Campbell Creek, continuing its journey along 47th Court.
For convenience, Campbell Park is equipped with two parking areas, strategically located on either side of Campbell Creek. From May to August, visitors can also benefit from the availability of a portable restroom.
The park boasts an inclusive playground, thoughtfully designed to cater to the imaginative play of children aged 2-5 and 5-12. This playground is not just a place of fun but also a space where children of various abilities can play together, fostering an environment of inclusivity and joy.
Whether you’re seeking a tranquil spot for a family picnic, an accessible trail for your daily run, or a safe and engaging playground for your children, Campbell Park in Anchorage is a community treasure that offers a little something for everyone.
